COLLABORATIVE WORKING: It was a great honour to be invited to collaborate with Alistair Baldwin Associates on the planting design as part of their work on the ‘Rising’ project at Raby Castle. I worked closely with the AWB team to develop a series of planting palettes and character areas for the Dutch Barn, The Vinery café restaurant, Roundhouse, and Duchess’ Walk.

To captivate the visitor’s attention and intrigue, the planting character is varied across each area. Multi-stem trees are utilised throughout the planting schemes, along with Yew cushions that mirror the structure and appearance of the historic yew hedges at Raby. These are combined with layers of rich planting and ornamental grasses, creating a tapestry of exceptional botanical interest throughout each season.

My involvement in this project encompassed the development of planting palettes and planting combinations, planting plans, and on-site setting out.
