Park Foot Holiday Park

Ullswater, lake district

Martin Ogle Horticulture was commissioned to transform the heart of Park Foot Holiday Park into an engaging garden space that would enhance guest experiences. Nestled beside the children’s play area, this new garden offers a relaxing retreat for guests to unwind and enjoy refreshments in a picturesque setting.

The playful layout of the garden allows for exploration by younger guests, who can also access the play area safely from the gardens.

The design draws inspiration from Aik Beck, the waterway that cuts through the site. By positioning the garden near its banks, visitors are treated to the soothing sounds of flowing water throughout the year.  A cleverly crafted raised Corten steel planter system nestles seating spaces directly within the planting, creating a sense of intimacy and sanctuary.

Corten steel uprights act as sculptural elements to the garden, which support shade sails for shelter and shade, allowing the garden to be enjoyed throughout the seasons.

The botanical selection celebrates time and texture. Early spring-flowering trees and shrubs herald the arrival of a new season, while a carefully curated succession of spring bulbs and hardy herbaceous perennials adds evolving layers of colour throughout the year.

This garden is a testament to the dedication and commitment of the vision by the client, along with the skill and craftsmanship of local landscapers, metalworkers, and the in-house teams at Park Foot.
